Our new pony arrived with a heavy rock hard crest, fat lumps over his rump and tail and a heavy shoulder.
After a few weeks on MetaboLize at night he is back to a soft crest, smooth shoulder and no fat lumps. We live on high oxalate pastured country which is also full of sugar especially at the moment, so MetaboLize sprinkled over his feed at night in his stable is doing the trick nicely.

My pony was a typical Welshie – cresty neck and fat lumps starting to develop and I struggled to get weight off her.

Every Summer my mare has had to wear a grazing muzzle due to weight gain. Since starting on Metabalize her weight has remained steady and her coat is gleaming. She seems happier and has more energy. My 20 year old gelding has Cushings and EMS. I also started him on Metabalize. I started the smaller dark chestnut mare on the Merabolise blend last summer. She was so improved within a week. She had two bags and I stopped supplementing her over winter. This is her now. The improvement that we have seen in our 2 older mares has been incredible, they have the best top line we have seen for at least 10 years of suffering from founder. Unfortunately the sachet packaging is not fit for purpose, you end up with more powder on your hands than you do in the scoop. A plastic tub with a wider opening compared to the current seal locked sachet would be much more suitable.

Bailey was having a severe problem in processing sugar in his diet. He used to be on the lean side but since at my place on super grass he was in my opinion, getting an unhealthy weight- table top back and big pockets of fat on his rump. Lack of food did not help just made him miserable. More riding did not help either. Then I read about Metabolise and decided to try it. FAQ
MetaboLize attacks insulin resistance and sugar absorption throughout the GI tract and encourages the mobilization of fatty tissue. In addition, the anti-inflammatory components in MetaboLize allow horses and ponies to move more freely and comfortably, speeding up their exercise rehabilitation timeline, and allowing them to burn extra fat and calories more quickly. By working with the body’s natural mechanisms to support and assist the management of carbohydrates more efficiently, and controlling sugars so they are used as energy and not stored as fat, this ideally breaks the cycle of metabolic health issues.
In a Vet Supervised field study, MetaboLize was shown to:
MetaboLize is particularly beneficial for horses and ponies who are insulin dysregulated. These are generally individuals who have been diagnosed with Equine Metabolic Syndrome, Cushing’s disease (PPID), Laminitis (particularly grass founder), or are obese (despite being on a restricted diet), and horses and ponies with fatty deposits (fatty lumps), and overly cresty necks.
MetaboLize also provides support for any horse who is particularly sensitive to sugar or starch in their diet, or who does not tolerate grass well.
Many horse owners who have used MetaboLize have reported great improvement in the overall demeanor, brightness, and desire to move forward and exercise in these cases, even after just a short time.
Horse owners who are using MetaboLize are reporting seeing improved physical changes in as early as 4-5 days, with horses appearing more comfortable and able to move about more freely. The softening of fatty lumps has been reported to occur within two weeks, and should continue to improve over time.
As your horse starts to process the sugars in their diet more normally you may see them become more engaged with life and with a desire and ability to move and exercise more freely.
If you don’t see a result that quickly, don’t panic. Every horse is different, and some may take longer to respond.
MetaboLize has been formulated using published research, and as part of the design phase developing MetaboLize, we undertook a 4 week Vet supervised trial with a cohort of randomly selected ponies in an attempt to measure various clinical outcomes. The trial was designed by an Associate Professor who is an expert in Insulin Dysregulation and conducted by our in-house Veterinarian, Dr. Erin Roddy with the blinded parts of the study conducted by unbiased veterinarians who are not employed by Poseidon Animal Health. The study was performed with the prior approval of the Secretary’s Animal Care and Ethics Committee (DPI, NSW: SECRETARY’S ACEC Project No. RVF22/1789).
The results showed reduction of blood glucose, insulin, and triglyceride levels.
Most of the ponies showed softening and decrease in fatty lumps. Several with lameness issues were moving more freely and had more energy even within a few days of starting Metabolize. The glucose challenge test showed a decrease in the blood glucose and insulin levels which is an indication that the sugar is being cleared from the blood and directed to muscle tissue instead of being deposited as fat.
All the ponies found it palatable and no adverse side effects were noted.
Additionally many more horses and ponies have participated in trialing the product separately. Every person reported a change in their horse, including benefits like reduction of cresty necks, reduction in fat lumps, easier weight management, and reduced episodes of laminitis

MetaboLize has been designed specifically with laminitic horses in mind. It can safely be used in horses with laminitis and does not contain any ingredients that may cause Laminitis. Just as with everything with laminitic horses, introduce it slowly, just to be on the safe side. Laminitics can be unpredictable, so slow is always best when adding something new to their diet.
Yes, MetaboLize is manufactured under GMP certification, with every batch undergoing rigorous testing and validation prior to release to ensure consistent quality and compliance with Australian Residue Limits (ARLs) established by Racing Australia, FEI, and other equestrian governing bodies.
This process ensures that MetaboLize is competition safe and can be used responsibly in line with Racing Australia rules, FEI regulations, Equestrian Australia guidelines, and other agricultural and equestrian event requirements. Further, it additionally ensures that it does not contain caffeine in any amount which would be unsafe for horses or be in violation of any testing regime.
To further support riders, trainers, and owners, we recommend a 48-hour withholding period prior to competition and racing. This precaution is not because MetaboLize exceeds thresholds, but to provide an additional margin of safety that accounts for individual horse variation, regulatory differences, and evolving testing standards.
For racing and competition horses we recommend a withholding period of 72 hours.
